Jillian Moroney is currently a master’s student in the Bioregional Planning and Community Design (BIOP)program at University of Idaho. She is working with Dr. Tammi Laninga and Dr. Randy Brooks assessing natural resource knowledge gain and retention of sixth grade students in Clearwater County, Idaho. Jillian’s work on the NARA project has included aiding in area assessment to determine communities’ roles in the biomass supply chain, as well as educating youth at several summer programs about woody biomass and its uses.

In January 2013 she will begin her doctorate in environmental science at the University of Idaho and continue to work on the NARA project in the area of stakeholder engagement and assessment. She holds a degree in geology from Western Washington University and worked several seasons as an interpretive ranger for the National Park Service in California before returning to school to pursue her masters. She is an avid outdoor enthusiast and enjoys working in communities and with youth, and is particularly interested in the interface between science and the public.
