Dr. John D. Bailey will put his silvicultural skills to work on the sustainable feedstock production research of the Northwest Advanced Renewables Alliance. He will support the project with his two decades of work designing silvicultural treatments across many forest types and owner objectives. Most recently and relevant to NARA, he has developed multi-aged management approaches for ponderosa pine-dominated and other dry forest types focused on fuels reduction and ecological restoration.

Since 1984, Dr. Bailey has been a faculty member at Northern Arizona University and Oregon State University where he currently is an associate professor in the Department of Forest Engineering, Resources and Management. He previously worked as senior scientist and quality assurance program manager at ManTech Environmental Technology Inc., in Corvallis, Ore.

He earned his Ph.D. in Forest Science-Silviculture from OSU in 1997.
