Jeff Hatten is an assistant professor in the College of Forestry, Forest Engineering, Resources and Management at Oregon State University. His areas of interest are soil productivity, effects of fire on soil, and impact of silverculture on sediment transport and water quality.
Jeff’s contribution to the NARA project is to examine the effects of organic matter (forest floor and slash) removal and soil compaction on soil carbon and nutrient cycles and site productivity. He and colleagues will conduct experiments at the NARA long–term productivity site near Springfield Oregon.
Jeff received a Bachelor of Science degree in environmental science at Western Washington University. He earned a doctorate in forest resources at the University of Washington.
