Tamara (Tammi) Laninga is an assistant professor with a joint appointment in the Department of Conservation Social Sciences and the Bioregional Planning and Community Design program (BIOP) at the University of Idaho (U-Idaho). She is contributing to the BioIDeX education effort for the NARAproject, working with communities to understand and identify their roles in the biofuel supply chain.

Laninga teaches core courses in the BIOP program, directs several NARA research assistants (RAs), and works closely with U-Idaho Extension on community development projects. Her research is in multi-jurisdictional collaborative planning, federal lands planning and sustainable land use planning approaches. Tammi is involved in several statewide recreation management projects examining visitor recreation experiences and visitor capacity on public lands. At the community level, she is studying university/community partnerships that result in adoption of sustainable land use planning tools by Idaho communities.

She holds a Ph.D. in design and planning from the University of Colorado.
