Dr. John Petrie is an assistant professor in the Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering at Washington State University (WSU). His research interests include river morphology, field measurements of river velocity and computational hydraulics.
Prior to his position at WSU, John was a graduate research assistant in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Virginia Tech (2007-2013) and assistant professor at the Virginia Commonwealth University in Qatar (2004-2007).
John’s research contribution to NARA will indicate the potential impacts that forest residual harvest presents to stream channels.
Dr. Petrie received a doctorate in civil and environmental engineering and a master’s and bachelor’s degree in civil engineering in at Virginia Tech. He also received a bachelor’s degree in jazz performance at the New England Conservancy.
