Phillip is the pilot plant research manager at the Center for Bioproducts and Bioenergy, Washington State University Tri-cities.
His contribution to the NARA project is to support the fermentation by supplying pretreated biomass. A pretreatment method will be developed in collaboration with the fermentation team to ensure goal specific optimization of the pretreatment conditions. This will allow higher fermentation yields thus higher biomass to advanced biofuel conversion.
