Dwight brings a commercial perspective and Catchlight Energy’s experience with the pretreatment of softwood to NARA. Dwight is the Manager of Bioconversion for Catchlight Energy, a joint venture between Chevron and Weyerhaeuser focused on producing liquid transportation fuels from forest-based biomass.

Dwight joined Weyerhaeuser in 1988 and has held management roles in the Technology, Containerboard Packaging, and Manufacturing Services divisions. His most recent role prior to joining Catchlight Energy was as R&D manager for the Cellulose Materials unit of Weyerhaeuser. This work applied science to develop and commercialize new cellulose-based products. He has led process engineering and pulp and paper mill-wide manufacturing improvements as well. He holds a doctorate in chemical engineering from Washington State University and is a board member for the Voiland School of Chemical Engineering and Bioengineering. He also holds an MBA from the University of Washington and a bachelor’s degree in physics.
