Residual wood to jet fuel and value co-products alliance to hold first open house for interested stakeholders in western Washington and Oregon

VANCOUVER, Wash. – The Northwest Advanced Renewables Alliance (NARA) will hold its first open house meeting for interested stakeholders in western Oregon and Washington. The purpose is to introduce the NARA project and leadership to stakeholders and establish a supply chain coalition in western Oregon and Washington.

The meeting will be on Tuesday, May 21, in the multimedia classroom building VMMC, room 6, on the Washington State University Vancouver campus.

Students from throughout the Northwest bring new energy ideas to competition – NARA Press Release

PULLMAN, Wash. – More than 450 middle and high school students from throughout the Northwest, including first time participants from Oregon, Montana and Idaho, will present their creative solutions to society¹s energy challenges at Washington State University¹s Imagine Tomorrow competition.

This year the competition also will add a challenge category specifically focused on biofuels. The other categories are behavior, design and technology.

World industry leaders focus on biofuels, composites – NARA Press Release

SEATTLE – World industry leaders in wood materials will gather in Seattle this week to discuss the role of woody biomass for production of biofuels in addition to composites. Emphasis will also be placed on the use of woody biomass for eventual production of jet biofuels.

$40M USDA Grant – NARA Press Release

PULLMAN, Wash. – Overcoming key obstacles that prevent wood-based jet fuel and petrochemical substitutes from being economically viable is the focus of a new $40 million project of the Washington State University-led Northwest Advanced Renewables Alliance.

NARA includes a broad consortium of scientists from universities, government laboratories and private industry.
